Equinox Flow Fest was an incredible experience and could not have been more magical! We want to thank all the organizers, volunteers, instructors, drummers, vendors & DJs for all their love and support in this epic endeavor. WHO. ARE. YOU? DECOMP
Burning Man’s Official Decompression is rising out of the dust in Chicago this October 5th!
The Bold Urban Renaissance Network (501c3 Non-profit) has a long history of funding art, artists, social change, and activism. Their history of financial support and Radical Volunteerism goes back over a decade with GirlForward, I Grow Chicago, Dance Peace, Chicago Tool Library and remains active today, supporting Community Meet and Greets, the Refugee Community Connection, and Chicago Full Moon Jam.
B.U.R.N. has a long history with Chicago Full Moon Jam; FMJ Board and founders have volunteered and worked alongside B.U.R.N. at most of their events, and you can spot B.U.R.N. organizers at almost every Jam volunteering and performing. The recent amazingness at Equinox Flow Fest was an amusing mash-up of teachers, organizers, and volunteers.
B.U.R.N. is ecstatic to have Chicago Full Moon Jam host a fire jam at Decomp! We have room for literally hundreds of performers and the FMJ Prop Library will also be featured for anyone curious about how to learn to spin fire. All fire performers are required to have taken the Full Moon Jam Fire Safety Training and can fill out the Participation Form below to get access to a Pay What You Want Ticket!

WINTER WORKSHOP SERIES
Thanks to a generous grant provided by the Fund The Flow Arts, Chicago Full Moon Jam will be hosting a Winter Workshop Series from November - April. These daytime all-ages flow workshops will be held at various Park District Fieldhouses where classes will take place between 10:00am - 2:00pm with a Flow Jam taking place afterward from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Exact dates and times will be announced very soon!
We are still looking for 12+ instructors to teach classes at these events. Each instructor will be offered $150 for each class taught, as well as an allergen-friendly lunch. If you would like to participate as an instructor in this series, please fill out the Winter Workshop Application Form by Sunday, October 20th! We plan to review the applications and notify everyone of our final selections by November 1st.
We have also assembled a prop library for all the classes so anyone can attend regardless of experience. If you have any old props you would like to contribute to the FMJ Prop Library, please send an email to info@fullmoonjam.org with the quantity and condition of the props you would like to donate!
We will be announcing more details on the location and schedule of the Winter Workshop series as soon as possible!
Volunteer Spotlight: Paul Foster (he/him)
I went to my first FMJ in 2010. At my first FMJ the Jam was organized but less organized than it is now. I heard the lead, Hoodie at the time, asking for volunteers. I'm not a performer, but I wanted to help. So I just started helping. The next Jam came around and I did the same. The first jam of 2011 I showed up and Hoodie approached me and asked if I wanted to be a Volunteer Organizer. I said, "what's that?" He explained it and I've been a Volunteer Organizer since that day.
There's much to love about the jams. I enjoy the community, the outreach, the promoting of ideals like No Trace Left Behind. And it's a venue that allows for people to be creative and express themselves through performance and art. I don't have any upcoming projects within the community. But, at the end of Sept, I'll be going to a cosplay event called Wasteland Weekend, and in the past, I've found the local fire tribe and have offered volunteer help by being a safety and a spare set of eyes. This year I'll be paid security for the event but will still have social time and I'll likely find the fire people.
